Hello all, (actualy I have 572359^32 questions, but thats 2to much for one
topic :)

1. Is pressing "shift" + "delete" the same thing as when you empty the
recycle bin?
And if so, where do they go, because I heard they still on your pc somewhere
somehow. ???

2. Somehow all of a sudden everytime I doubleclick on a map it wont open,
instead the search option begins :S...anyone know how I can fix that ?

(3. (might not be simple) ... Yesterday I looked at Disk Management and I
saw I had free space left. I wanted to make a logical drive from that...that
didnt work.
But now my E: partition is unaccesible and when I do a chkdsk in prompt it
sais:
"chkdsk is unavailable for RAW drives". I have a lot of data on that
drive...but how can I get it back ???)

Thanks

SHIFT+DELETE (Delete the selected item permanently without placing the item
in the Recycle Bin)

The files don't go anywhere, they remain where they are but their location
is marked as usable space so they can be over written with new data. If they
haven't yet been overwritten you can sometimes recover them using 3rd party
software.

Double click on what map? Where? XP doesn't come with maps.

Did you have "free" space or "unallocated" space, they are very different
things. What procedure did you use to attempt the creation of this logical
drive?

#1. 'Shift + Delete' where and when? Do you mean in Windows Explorer? If
so, no, the file is not protected in the recycle bin. Delete files don't go
anywhere when you delete them. The pointers to the file in the allocation
table are marked so that the storage spaces are made available for reuse. A
normal delete saves the pointers in the recycle bin and withholds the
storage space from the available pool until all the space allocated to the
storage bin is in use. A 'Shift + Delete' does not save the pointers in the
recycle bin; the space is immediately available for reuse and very quickly
the file data is lost.

#2. What does

mean? You will have to do better than that.

#3. a. If the E: partition already existed and contained information, you
are screwed. Evidently you have erased all the location information for any
data in that partition. If the data is valuable, then a data recovery
service can possible recover some of the files. That will be very
expensive.

#3. b. If you mean that the new partition you created using Disk Management
is inaccessible, then that is because you did not format the partition. In
that case, I suggest getting a knowledgeable person to help you at your
location. You are making changes without understanding what you are doing,
and the next change you make may have serious consequences (see #3. a.)
