BlankCan someone give me some info please
I had to get a new computer and it has XP Home installed with a CD Burner.
I had an extra CD Rom I put in and an extra 40 GB Hard Drive I also put in
to go with the original 40 GB.
Should I run FDisk (cannot remember how) or put them together or dual boot?
What would be the best, easiest and safest.
Thanks for any help
Bruce

Hi,
Please read this about dual booting.
http://www.winxpsolution.com/DualBootingXPPro.aspx

As for your situation if you installed the operating system on another disk then you can safely format that disk and then the operating system on your first hard disk will not be disturbed.

To remove the extra line you will have to boot the boot.ini file. The boot.ini is located in the c:\ and is hidden and read only. you will have to change the attributes to enable modifying the same and then open with notepad.

once you open the boot.ini locate the line which says that it is pointing to your
second partition because that is the unwanted operating system and remove that.
Reboot for effects to take place.

If you are not sure about which line you should remove then you can do this.

right click on my computer.
choose properties
in the window that appears choose advanced.
then choose the start up and recovery settings.
uncheck the box "time to display list of operating systems"
now this menu will not appear at start up.
