Hi. Installed a new hard drive ("C")and want to ust the
old one (now "D") for backup/storage only. When I boot my
computer it, understandably, automatically boots to the
new drive. I tried doing a file transfer wizard to
trnasfer my old files (like photos) to my new HD. The new
HD had me make a new wizard disk on a floppy. Then it
tells me to put this floppy in the drive of the old
computer and go from there. However, I can't load the
floppy in the old drive because I am booted to my new
drive. and anyhow, is the procedure I should follow if the
old drive is actually in the same physical location and
sharing the OS? Whew! Thanks!

You need to make sure that you changed the pin configuration on the old
drive to slave. There should be something on the harddrive that tells what
that configuration is. Once that is done then your D drive will show like
any other folder on your system and you will be able to copy/paste to/from
it as you please.

Where would this folder be if that was already the case? I
ask because when I go to My Computer it is listed there,
and when I open it I see all my folders, but they don't
have anything in them. Thanks

If you can see the drive (For ex., D) and you can browse to it and see
folders but nothing is in the folders, that is another issue all together.
My obvious response is to tell you that you deleted everything. However,
once a drive is switched to slave I am not sure if you will still see any of
the old system files and such. If you go through My Computer and you can
browse to all of the folders and sub-folders but none of them have files in
them check the properties to see how much space is available to see if they
are hidden or gone. If all you have are folders then ~99% of the drive
should be available. If that is not the case then I would say that you
should make sure that you can view all system and hidden files in your
settings. Ultimately, so one else may need to help you more since I have
never heard of that happening. I do not want to tell you something that may
get you more in trouble!!
