Two Favorites columns suddenly appear.(?)

When I clicked on Start, I normally would see one Favorites in the bottom
half of the column that appears. Suddenly, a few days ago another Favorites
appeared in the upper, program half of the column. When I click on them
they seem to be duplicate lists with a few exceptions. Some items are
missing from one of them.

I'm not sure what might have caused the second one to appear. Is there a
way to combine them back into one list, as they were and in the original
position? I don't know that it will make any difference, but I'm using
Win98 now and will shortly have a new computer with XP, and I would like to
be able to export the single combined list to the new machine.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you tried IE's File | Import and Export?

I"m not sure how I would use it. It isn't clear which files would be
involved. I imagine that there must be two files, and I haven't been able
to identify the specific two that I would need to combine to get one with
all the favorites in it. Where should they be?

Exporting your favorites should give you an HTM file with all of the
favorites IE lists.
