I recently got a Gateway Computer with Vista Home Premium preinstalled. After
a day of using the computer I started getting a "No Operating System" error.
This error is no longer occuring, but now when I bootup, it will sit and say
"Creating your Desktop" for a long time, then come up with the following two
errors:

"The procedure entry point SdbShowApphelpfromQuery could not be located in
the dynamic link library apphelp.dll"
&
"Error loading C:\Windows\system32\mscories.dll"

It will log into my profile, but gives me a message saying that there was a
problem loading my profile, and that nothing I do will be saved.

I'm at a loss, I have tried searching for an answer to these, but I can't
find anything.

Please help!!

Contact Gateway for replacement. After one day, you should never get a
"No Operating System" error. I don't care if it isn't happening any
more; something is definitely wrong and you should not wait to get a new
laptop. The hard drive could be faulty or it could be the motherboard.

seems to me like a hard disk crash!

do a checkdisk... and create a new user (from the control panel)

If you see anything strange contact gateway

Okay, I finally got this fixed. I installed Linux and was able to access
the Gateway recovery partition. This allowed me to restore everything to
the factory defaults. Everything is working great.
