Two (double) icons on Desktop

There are two icons for each item in my Desktop. All icons arrange themselves by type or whatever, but there is a second complete listing of icons after the first. Each double icon's properties report it is a link to the same file. If I delete either icon the icon and its file are deleted but the double icon remains and of course when I double-click it, a file not found error message results. This happened when I used Tweak-XP to change the location of my user Desktop folders to ...\All Users\Desktop. It worked well for the first user I changed. I made the change for the second and then moved all the files from ...\user2\Desktop to ...\All Users\Desktop. No change was apparent then, but when I logged back on -- double icons. Tweak XP showed the icon cache size a zero so I changed it to 512k without result. I checked the ...\user2\Desktop directory and it is empty. I checked the shell folder setting in the Registry and it is set to ...\All Users\Desktop. I deleted the pagefile without result. I will try a disk check and update this posting.
 
Hmmm, interesting! That should of worked:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Change CommonDesktop from:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Desktop

To:

CommonDesktop
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
