Somehow I have two contact files listed in my pull down. One of them is
empty, the second is my actual contacts. I need to remove the first, empty
one.

Please help.

Thank you.

To which pull down might you be referring and in what Outlook version?
I'm sure your post makes sense to you. I hope you can see why it would only
make sense to us if we were looking over your shoulder. Alas, we aren't.

I'm sorry, you're right, I'm an idiot.

It is Outlook 2003 and the pull down is the "Show Names from the:" tab when
wanting to add names to a distribution list for example.

Thank you for your time.

You're not an idiot at all. Many people post questions assuming we know
their versions and the views to which they are referring. But of course we
can't.
It is common to get an invalid reference to a Contacts Folder in the Outlook
Address Book. In Outlook 2003 you can easily remove those invalid references
here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.

If you remove the wrong reference, don't worry. You can just as easily
restore it and remove the other.

Thank you for the response.

I removed the Outlook Adress Book as you directed (there was only one so I
exported my contacts before-hand just in case). Now the odd thing is that my
contacts are still there under the contacts tab yet I STILL have two contacts
options in the pull-down tab whenever I'm calling from the contacts such as
in the "To" box or adding to a distribution list. I really don't understand
why.

Reread my post. You did not do what I told you to. Nowhere did I tell you to
remove the Outlook Address Book. I told you to remove the invalid reference
to a Contacts Folder.
