Hi,

I wonder is there a way for two computer to get access one usb
device at the same time?
I know there are swithes can be used to share one usb device one at a
time. But is there a
way for sharing the usb device at the same time? It is data acqustion
system and has to be
accessed by two computers.

Thanks a lot for help!

No, have one system gather all the data and have the other
one networked to it and then it can use the generated data
files that are applicable.

a brief glance at that page. They all say manual switches. It doesn't
look simultaneous.

I did once ask the q in a shop, the guy thought plugging a keyboard
into the B end of the hub - using an A-B adaptor, would do it.

I gave it some thought and decided not to. I think my reason at the
time, was - and this was just a thought - that it wouldn't work because
by Crossover/straightthrough issues.
(like the issues one runs into in networking, connecting routers, or
computers to routers )

There is only one type of USB cable.. say, straighthrough. So, it is
designed to connect unlike interfaces.

The B port of a hub(ther is only 1) is deisgned for a comp to be
conected to it. With the standard(so, straight-through) usb cable.
Plug a keybaord into it, and it won't work. 'cos a keyboard interface
is the opposite of a computers. That is how the straightthrough usb
cable connects them

I hope this reads correctly, gtg!!

Actually it's not possible.
Reread the OP's post, stipulating "access at the same
time". With above devices, it switches them which is just
barely easier than unplugging and replugging.

USB has a Master (host) - Slave relationship logically,
instead of Peer - Peer. One system's controller must cease
control for the other to start (controlling it).
