Need admin privileges to allow applications
I'm running as a non-privileged user with the msn toolbar
beta plug-in for IE. Every time I log in I get a message
that there's a plug-in for IE (msn toolbar) that wants to
start up, do I want to allow or block this plug-in. I
choose allow, but get this message as I said every time I
logon.
Work around
Promote my user account to local admin and I can allow
plug-ins and the setting will be remembered. I can then
demote my account and continue as normal.
Need admin privileges to update definitions
Definitions will never be updated if the user running the
program is a non-privileged user. Even manually checking
for updates will result in new definitions being
downloaded and supposedly successfully implemented.
However running the update again will result in the same
update being downloaded and "successfully" implemented.
Work around
Allow Users group Modify permissions on the %program files%
\Microsoft AntiSpyware folder. Non-privileged users will
now be able to update definitions.
