I hope this is the right group to ask this question in. I downloaded
the latest version of TweakUI from Microsoft and I followed the simple
instructions for downloading and installing. However, when I
right-click on tweakui.cpl and select run from Control Panel, a
message appears prompting me to install this file. I click yes, but
nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Any thoughts would be most
welcome. Thanks.

TweakUI as you downloaded it is an archive (zip file). When you click
on it , it asks you what folder you want to unpack the zipped files
into. If you don't change the default, these will go into your Temp
file. In there, one of the unpacked files will be tweakUI.inf. If you
click on this, TweakUI will be installed, and show up in your control
panel.

In Win2k, the Temp file is usually in Documents and Settings > <your
user name> > Local Settings.

If you don't want to hunt around for the Temp folder, just declare the
download directory when asked where you want TweakUI to be unpacked.
