Well, I have a moderate system that needs to be upgraded seriously, well
basically overhauled, but until then I want to tweak this machine for the
most yet safe output that I can get, ie: no OCing/tweakin to the point where
my machine will fry out on me.

Only thing is I'm not really sure what to do with the darned thing so I'm
askin for suggestions or perhaps a helpful site or so.

Here's a list of my box/system...

AMD Athlon XP 2200 (believe this is right, I'll update a post if not)
ECS Elitegroup K735A Pro (my old asus finally conked after 5 or so years)
Arcade FX GeForce4 MX 440 64 DDR
512Mb PC133 (heh, can you say old)
Using Onboard sound atm, I have a dusty sb somewhere...
Windows XP Pro SP 1 (contemplatin a dual boot with linux)

Now if I missed any information let me know, but I'm a pretty serious gamer,
but also do some graphics on this box. Any suggestions, comments, etc. ?
TIA...

That seems like an okay base system to me. If you're a gamer, you NEED to
upgrade that video card NOW! CPU really only counts for loading levels,
etc. I just went from Radeon 7000 64MB to Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB and the
difference in 3D games in incredible. I can finally run at high
quality/resolution without skipping. It's worth the money if you like to
game.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with this system that a new video card
wouldn't fix. For example, my son's got an Athlon XP 2000, also running on
a fairly good but basically generic motherboard (a FIC AN19E)... but he's
got a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra. His machine runs Star Trek Elite Force 2 and
Star Wars Jedi Outcast like a champ (at 1024x768x32 with all or at least
most of the eye candy turned on).

As for your memory, eh.... so what? I know that if your system had DDR
instead of PC133 SDRAM, your PCMark2001 memory benchmark score would pretty
much double (as you might expect), but I wouldn't lose any sleep over having
PC133. Heck, you have half-a-gig, so it's not like the *amount* of memory is
a problem.

Before you do anything, though, replace that video card. Sell the old one on
eBay to recoup some of your cost.
