Here is my experience making my Canon MP750 work on my Windows 2003
server. In short "IT DOESN'T WORK AND CANON DOESN'T SUPPORT IT".

I called up the tech support and looked into the issue for 45 minutes
the first day. The CSR finally gave up and told me that he will give me
a call the next day.

The next day, I receive a call to hear that they don't support 2003. He
as well mentioned that the scanner is not working because 2003 doesn't
have the TWAIN driver installed. The setup for CANON software doesn't
install the TWAIN driver on windows 2003.

Now I have no other way to use my scanner. I'm planning to install a
Virtual PC on my machine with XP over Windows 2003 to use this ;)

If you had checked the specifications, you would have known that Windows
2003 is not listed.

Are you planning to scan music into a notation program for
editing, as I am? There's a forum for users of Finale products.

I found that HP All in Ones aren't recommended, and I don't THINK
mine has a TWAIN driver, but if you must use HP you do it in
GrayScale, not Black & White. For Finale's PrintMusic, files
have to be TIF, but for Finale I think maybe some others are
compatible. They're discussing "cutepdf" some downloaded in Nov
2004, but they're not free now, just have trial versions to download.
Finale programs are at www.makemusic.com and there's probably a
link to the forum. Their Musitec I think recommends Epson or Canon
printers, but someone was having trouble with a Canon this morning.

I'm using XP Home.

I work for one of cannon's competetors (fujitsu) and we also don't
officially "certify" 2003 yet. However, I've been able to get 100% of
my installation attempts to work just fine with just a few mouse
clicks.
1. right click on MY COMPUTER
2. goto MANAGE
3. on the left window of computer management, click on SERVICES AND
APPLICATIONS | SERVICES
4. double click on WINDOWS IMAGING ACQUISITION service (WIA)
5. set the startup type to Automatic and start the service

reboot

now test

hope it helps

Thanks Danny!! Enabling the WIA service was the fix I needed to get my
Canon MP780 Multifunction working on my Windows 2003 server. It's nice
to have the printer directly connected to the server (USB 2.0) for fast
printing / faxing and centralized management. Then just use the remote
desktop / admin term serv session to scan.

Huge Thanks!

Great news! I'm glad to have helped...

Have a great day!
