Hi,

What TvTunder card (USB) will work with Windows Media Center in Vista ?

I have the EMTEC S825 and that is only workin' with the EMTEC software.

Can you please recommend me a good one which works in Europe (Luxembourg) ?

It should support DVB-T and analogue.

Regards,

Jerry

Why do you need a USB one? Is it because you have a laptop, or do not want
to open the case of your desktop computer?

If you have a desktop computer with a PCIe x1 slot, you should get a Black
Gold Dual Tuner Hybrid card.

I have one, and the picture is excellent. It has twin tuners, both hybrid.

Hi,

It must be USB one, as I don't have any PCI slot remaining in my PC.

Can you give me a USB brand model recommendation?

Media center does not concurrently support a DVB-T tuner and a analog tuner
on a hybrid tuner card so if you have both services you will have to use the
card vendors or other TV application software. Otherwise you will be limited
to support of only the DVB-T tuner in a Hybrid card in MC.

But that's a non-issue on a single tuner card as you would be using one or
the other. On a twin tuner card it would be the same unless you wanted to
use one analogue and one digital at the same time. No?

The issue is the MC won't let you configure both tuners since the use the
same driver. You have to go back through MC TV setup because MC is designed
so that you can use all configured tuners concurrently.
MC also only uses one program guide so you would need a way to integrate the
guides from the multiple tuner types.
Lastly MC also requires that the analog tuner have a hardware encoder chip
so that all of its incommoding programs are compressed and encoded.

Yes, it is a non-issue with The vendors software that permits use of only
one tuner at a time, however it is an issue with MC.

I don't undertsand what you mean. I don't see how this particular aspect is
an issue if you are deciding to go digital or analogue for both tuners. I
suppose you are talking about when somebody wants one of each.

I never thought of that.

I comepletly forgot about that. I think this is a stupid requirement, with
the powerful processors people have now, and the low quality/compression of
hardware encoded MPEG2 compared to a higher compression codec, like DiVX.

In response to the original question, Compro do a whole range of USB digital
tuner devices, some are Vista certified, some arn't so double check on the
product pages before you buy.

I can't vouch for the USB devices but I own a Compro PCI-E dual digital
tuner and once the updated Vista drivers were released, it works perfectly in
Media Centre, even in my poor reception area.
