How do I turn off the TV Programming Guide? It is constantly accessing the
internet, slowing the whole system down. I don't use the TV card in the
computer, but I don't know how to turn it off. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you know what make/model your video card is?

WE sure don't!

The card is a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo. Hope that helps with
this problem.

Thanks.

Sorry, couldn't find anything. You need to contact Hauppauge support
about this:

Thanks for the help. I've followed your advice and sent off a request to
Hauppauge.

are you talking about Windows Media Center Programming Guide? or the program
that came with your Hauppauge card (WinTV)?

Hauppauge sent an email that informs me that the Programming Guide which
accesses the internet all by its lonesome is part of Windows Media Center.
The Hauppauge Win 1600 card has no such program associated with it,
Hauppauge support claims. So I went through all the Media Center settings
and I think I found where it can be turned off. Time will tell as I keep an
eye on the Launch Bar in the lower right-hand corner of the Desktop.

actually, NO it had nothing to do with Hauppauge and customer support. He
just had to go through the set-up in Windows Media Center. Sending him to
Hauppauge customer support was a waste of time.
