Chuckles

I have an XP machine that is seriously infected with
malware of varioous kinds. I have been trying to clean it
up with MSAS Beta 1 without much luck. It finds several
different problems, but seems to many(>100,000) instances
of something it annotates as "TV" When I hover the mouse
over it it pops up TV Media Display. The trouble is that
the scan never finishes. I have let it run overnight in
safe mode, and when I check it in the morning it is still
tabulating hits on this malware at a high rate, seemingly
at the rate that it is scanning files. I have have read
the MS knowledge article 886590, and it doesn't appear I
have the signature that it indicates. Does any onyone have
advice for me?

Are you doing your scans in safe mode?

What you need to also do is use http://www.ccleaner.com (Crap Cleaner) and
remove all of your temporary files in your temp directories. I would go
ahead and boot into safe mode. If you don't know how to do that, just
restart your computer, and after your BIOS screen just keep hitting the F8
key until you see a menu with a bunch of options. You're going to want to
choose Safe Mode. Get into safe mode, get into each of your user accounts,
use CCleaner and remove all temp files.

Reboot your computer.

Get back into safe mode again. You're going to want to use MSAS now. If
you are still having frequent crashes, I suggest downloading and using
Ad-Aware first and Spybot Search & Destroy second. Then go ahead and use
MSAS. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them.

Hi

-Restart in safe mode, press F8 during reboot.

- Scan again with MSAS, choose fullscan with all options
checked.

It might also be a good idea to include these tools for
removing tracking cookies
and temporarily junk files.

CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com, for removing of ALL temporarily
junk.

I can see you've checked the MS page for TV Media but did
you also use their removal tool for TV Media ,If not it
may help you get cleaned up

Here's the link to it if needed :

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
amp;amp;amp;displaylang=en&familyid=f94e8b27-b656-45cd-

Also check your add/remove screen for T.V Media and
remove if found, the only two files that i know of for
this are TVTMD.EXE, TVMD.EXE so maybe search for them if
this is different to the MS page.

Failing that contact them at this address and see if they
can help you
