Yeah, an ancient sound card; which is what i believe is the issue. Drivers
for more than just the minimum will not load. Joystick port and advanced
features will not load either from CD or udpdate file. Vista continues to
stumble over installing: PCI Simple Communications Controller. Since can not
get past this maybe why others are not loading or will not load.

Continuing to search for resolution.
 
Have you tried installing them through the 'don't have disk' option
when Vista asks for drivers?
