Turning Port 80 off

I want to know where I can turn port 80 and the rest of
the ports on and off on Windows 2000 Advance Server. I
need to have port turn off.....

stop iis or whatever other web server you are running.

Use your firewall. And yes, that's the place you *really* want to do
this.

Beyond that, uninstall IIS and use TCP/IP security to further restrict
ports if needed.

Port 80 should be off unless you have an application or service using it.
IIS will use port 80 by default, so if you are running IIS you will need to
turn it off or configuuure it to use another port.

To find out what application or service is causing a port to be open you can
run tcpview from www.sysinternals.com

You can use IPSEC which is built into Windows 2000. IPSEC isn't like a
firewall, it dosn't do stateful packet inspection, but if what you are
trying to do is block ports, it dose a very good job of it.
