turning on xp service pack 2 virus protection

I installed the service pack but the virus protection
tells me to check status. Recommendations doesn't let me
change the status to on. Someone please help!!!

You may be getting confused with the Security Center and it's integration
with your own purchased and installed Anti Virus product and the additional
protection from the code that some virus' try and run through the use of DEP
(Data Execution Prevention)
To understand more about DEP - Start ... Help and Support and type in DEP
into the Search box and press the arrow.
