I have my computer & equipment running thru a power
strip. When I turn off my computer using the XP "turn
off computer" software, I then shut off my monitor with
the power strip power switch.

When I start my computer & monitor using the power switch
on the power strip, the computer will turn on for just a
second, and then turn off; I have to then restart the
computer using the manual power switch. Is there a way I
can turn on the computer just using the power strip power
switch? I could turn on/off my old computer using
Windows 98 in this manner.

Thanks for your help.

The on/off switch is the "stand-by" power switch. You may be able to use
the BIOS setting "Power fail". This is normally set to "off" but but can
try "on"
