Turning off 'Write Protect' on SmartMedia Cards?

I've bought the Polaroid PDC 3035 Digital camera from Argos, and I bought a
64Mb SmartMedia card to go with it. But when I put it in and try to take a
picture it says 'Check Card Protect Switch'. I can't see a way of doing this
though.

If the card is facing with the gold upwards the notch is cut out of the left
hand side, which I understand id the 3.3V version. I've tried inserting it both
ways, and the other way doesn't recognise a card inserted.

What do I do?

Cheers

Is that the card that you write protect by putting a small disk on it just
below the gold pins ? If so remove the disk.
