I now have 2 antispyware programs installed on my computer with one sunning
in real-time
monitoring. so I have disabled (unchecked) the 'Use real-time protection in
Windows Defender options.
Yet, Windows defender still runs at startup and is in the msconfig's
Startup tab's list.
Is this normal?

I've turned it back on.
Can't hurt to have extra protection.

hi ,

yes its normall , it can be disabled at startup like every other program ,
but like you wrote in your second post , the extra layer of protection sure
does not hurt at all !!

essentials is even better , get it also , its free

If you have MSSE installed too and want to shut its real time
protection off for when running games, as I do, then it also shuts
down Defender at the same time.
