I wanted to turn off the server service on all my workstations(150) to remove admin shares and improve bandwith overall.
What are the Master Browser effects of doing this? Will the machines just have problems seeing each other
or will the also have trouble seeing the servers in a diffrent VLAN.

If you shut off the server service, there will be no need to see the other
PCs, since there will be no access to them ...

Any machine not running the server service will not show up in Network Places, nor
will you be able to manage it remotely via Computer Management, etc. It will not stop
them from seeing other computers running file and print sharing as long as some
computers can be master browsers. You can also remove administrative shares without
disabling the server service. --- Steve

It is also important to test this before doing this. If you use any type
of desktop management software such as SMS it may not work correctly if the
Administrative shares are missing...there are probably other situations
similiar to this as well.
