Depends on how you are connected to the internet. Dial Up? Broadband?

Hi Brenda,

A good question with no clear answer other than "it depends on your use".
Things to think about:

- Powering down conserves electricity
- Powering down means that no one connected to your system can access it
(like a hacker), but a firewall can prevent this as well
- Leaving it on allows nearly instant access to the system, no line, no
waiting
- Power options allow you to limit the amount of electricity used by
employing the standby and./or hibernate function
- Most hardware failures occur when a piece of hardware is initially powered
on (the more frequently you power it on, the more chances that it may fail)
- Solid state circuitry allows you to run hardware for long periods of time
without wearing it out, many components will outlive the pc's usefulness

Me, I leave all mine on 24/7, but that's what works for me.
