We have a corrupted 200GB WD drive. We have moved it to
a slave position so that we can run a data recovery
program from a new hard drive.

However, XP Home Ed. insists on running CHKDSK on that
second drive further corrupting it.

What is the means for turning off this Error-Checking?

Newsgroup posted response appreciated. Thank you.

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. Then type in:
chkntfs /x c: , and hit enter. Reboot your computer.

[This disables CHKDSK from running on drive C:]

Thank you, but...running chkntfs /x f: (to turn off the
second drive [F]) was not successful.

Upon reboot, it once again began running CHKDSK on the F
drive.

Additional thoughts appreciated. Thanks again.
