Is there any way to turn off the group policy settings when a user is not
on site/domain ?

I am setting up group policy for our company and was wondering if I apply
a GP at site level is there a way of the settings being turned off when the
users use their PC away from the company network ? I want to set up our
internet settings and wireless network settings to our confiruration when
they logon to the network, but when they use the laptop away from the
company network/site I want to settings to be removed as a lot of our remote
users have broadband networks at home which GP would interfere with. I
thought GP removed the settings when users log off...obviously not!

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

PC

Have a different account, with local logon, for home use.

You're going to have to sort through file permissions
headaches with stuff they work on at home from work, but
you should be able to overcome that with some specail
permissions applied to the home account.

Perhaps you could investigate creating Hardware Profiles for 'Office' and
'Home'. When they would boot up the machine they would be prompted for a
hardware profile to load. At this point you could set the hardware
configuration differently depending how they will connect.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, the hardware profile only applies to hardware and does
not affect the software settings, group policy settings are still in effect
with different hardware profiles. Thanks anyway, I first thought of that
but found it didn't work!

Thanks,

PC.
