turn on--- Design and split view -- on front page 2003

lost design view and design view and split view are turned off in tools how
do i get them back
 
Do you have a web open and then a page??

If so and they still don't show, go here:

Either the page extension you have open is not configured to be opened
as HTML [Tools->Options - Configure Editors], or you have specifically
requested FP to open the page as Text Only [using right-click on the
file list, then Open With -> FrontPage (Text Only)], or the page
contains serious coding errors which FP will be forced to "correct" in
order to display the page in Design View.
 
Thanks for quick reply but it didn't help I found different views in tools
bars but they are turned off also

To clarify: Ronx means the file list as in the "Folder View" list in
Frontpage.

Click the "Web Site" tab at the top of the screen on the left or "Folders"
button at the foot of the screen on the left.

Right Click on the file you want to open, you get a "context" menu with the
option, "Open With Frontpage (Text only)". (among others)

Ronx is suggesting you may have opened a page that way, which would explain
why you can't see the Split/HTML/Design view tabs.

Actually, I meant the Folder list - the list of folders and files on
the left of the design pane - but Folder View does the same thing.

No that didnt do it-- I added a new page and it works in design with regular
Design view split and Html code --colors and all-- Tried creating a new Web
Page and it just shows text-- some how I think I messed up the default
settings--I noticed on New page all the tool bars at the top of the page are
on ---but in other page with just text view all tool bars are off--

Tool bars being off is to expected with a text only page.
Did you check the other options I mentioned? Particularly,

A link to the page on the internet will help give more exact answers,
rather than guesses, or post the html code here.

Design and split view is back. right click on folders and choosing to open
with HTML worked. Thanks
