turn off touchpad

I have a laptop with a touchpad option (XP professional),
which I hate. The touchpad is turned on. How can I turn
it off? There used to be an icon to turn it on and off
next to the clock on the lower right-hand corner of the
screen, but it's not there anymore.

It should be in your Keybaord properties in the Control Panel. but IBM
might have software installed in the system to also remove it.

Hi,
What brand notebook do you have?
You can try going to the manufacturer of your notebook and download the
drivers for your touchpad, and if there was a icon before the drivers should
put that icon back so you can turn on and off the touchpad.

Not sure why i said IBM. i was thinking "ThinkPad". anyway contact the
maker of the notebook for more help.
