Using Win XP Pro
I would like to turn off the search companion so that it does not make
any effort to search the web, when I use the search tool in
start/search.
I have chosen the preference "use classic" but that doesn't seem to have
done it.
I tried making the following registry change which I got from the MS
Knowledgebase but the entry doesn't seem to be in my registry. I
couldn't find a line that said "Use Search Asst".
To disable Search Companion through the registry key
1.
Start the Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2.
Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CabinetState
3.
Set the value of Use Search Asst to "No."
How can I do this?
TIA
