Turn off Norton?

Suppose Norton AV is running normally and you want to totally stop
it. You would have to go to Task Manager and kill the process, is
that right? Norton seems to have to command to turn off completely.

Also, suppose you want to reboot so that Norton won't run at all. You
would have to go to MSconfig and uncheck the service, is thar correct?

Hello Richard:

Do yourself a very big favor and uninstall any Norton products on your
new Vista based system.

Install more worthwhile products that will do more for less. Lurk the
malware NGs and you'll spot them in minutes.

FWIW Maximum PC recently tested a bunch of AV products, ranked the 10
best, and gave brief reports on the also-rans. Norton 2009 ranks with
Kapersky and Eset's NOD32. A cut above AVG etc. They professed
themselves surprised, since they had the generally negative attitude
expressed above about older Norton AV software.

That will be the main problem of Symantec for a long time.
For some years they succeeded in building a reputation for providing
"bloatware" (goes for all Norton products in the yellow boxes).

Now the product seems to be improved, but nobody wants to take the risk
to try and have to reinstall the PC (again).
