turn off mike

Any way to turn off the mike? I am using Skype to make calls. Suppose my
landline rings. I want to put the Skype caller on hold. I would like to
temporarily shut off the mike. It is too hard for me to reach behind the
computer to pull it out.

Buy a microphone with an on/off switch?

In the recording controls, you should be able to mute the mic. If you need
to do this a lot, you may want to keep that open for easy access, otherwise
you're going to be fumbling around looking for it.

Otherwise, you could buy a mic with an on/off switch. Check yours first;
most of the ones I've seen have some sort of switch, but quite often they're
pretty small.

Or, buy an extension for the mic cable, and have the jack somewhere close
by, so you can leave the extension plugged into the computer and just unplug
the mic from the extension.
