I recieve repeated offensive material on my computer
delivered by messenger. It logs on as a name I do not
recognise and has conversations with people I do not
know. I cannot turn it off, and I will not get a .Net
passport as I believe this may set me up for more grief.
I have repeatedly blocked all these people but they
reappear. I have attempted to remove it from startup
without success. I will never use this feature. How do I
get rid of it permanently?

I cannot get help from microsoft without getting the .Net
passport, which would be crazy if I am being hacked.

ANy suggestions would be welcome.

Has anyone installed the windows messenger onto your
computer without your knowledge. It would appear that for
some reason the name has installed itself on to the
system, i suggest that you unistall the windows messenger
from your computer. Then download a newer version of
messenger and then set yourself up with a net passport
that you have only access to.

Greetings,

To remove completely, for Windows Messenger 4.7, close down Messenger if it's running (right
click the messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click
the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

For Windows Messenger 5, close down Messenger if it's running (right click the messenger icon
in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start button, then
click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
msiexec.exe /x {ABEB838C-A1A7-4C5D-B7E1-8B4314B10138}
and then click OK.
