Turn OFF Media Bar

Had to upgrade to IE6 to run VS Net 2003.

Stupidly answered Yes to badly worded inquiry on initial
startup re: whether or not to use Media Bar.

As with most unnecessary/useless/unwanted IE "features",
it does not work, won't play streaming media at all.

Right clicking the media link on the page and selecting
"Open in new window" still opens WMP7.1 and plays just fine-this
is my old IE 5.5 behavior, and is what I want.

I want media bar GONE. No options in Tools>>
Internet Options seem to control it.

Please, no responses on how to fix Media Bar.

Even if it worked, it isn't what I want to do.

I just want my old behavior back.

Thanks.

Go to
Internet Options>Advanced. Scroll down to the "Multimedia" section and place a
check in "Don't display online media content in the media bar". Also
View>Explorer Bar uncheck Media (or just use the Media button on the toolbar)

Sorry this may be more what you want
To change Media bar settings

In Internet Explorer, click Media on the toolbar to open the Media bar.
Click Media Options, point to Settings, and then click the settings you want to
turn on or off. A check mark next to a setting indicates that the setting is
turned on.

Uncheck
Play web media in the bar

and click
Reset preferred types.

Thanx George.

This one did it...

The other two in your previous post I had already tried,
and neither of them had any effect at all.

And theis one is not even mentioned in the IE help file (as
usual).

You are welcome Glad it worked out.
