I turned on file sharing briefly. After having it on for a while, I
realized it wasn't the answer to the problem I was trying to solve, so I
turned it off again.
While I was on, I noticed an increase in CPU and disk usage. Rather to my
surprise, now that it's turned off there's STILL an increase in CPU and disk
usage. It's not as much as when it was turned on, but it's still higher
than what it was before I turned it on for the first time.
So, either I haven't got it as turned off as I thought, or something gets
started as a side effect of turning on file sharing which doesn't then get
turned off again when it's removed.
I even tried a system restore to a point several hours before I made turned
on file sharing. Didn't help.
