I need to put some documents on the web but I also need to
protect them from being copied. Is there a way to turn
off the cut and copy features when you right click the
mouse. I would not even mind disabling the entire right
click menu.

Thanks
Mark

You can disable right click however,
It will NOT protect your files.

To bypass a disabled right click all
someone has to do is right click and hold,
press the shift key and hold and then release the mouse key.

Or disable javascript in their browser.

The only way to protect them is to either
not publish them or password protect them.

There are javascripts out there that will disable or
redefine the context (right click) menu. They are *not*
foolproof for a few reasons, namely the http protocal
downloads everything into your temporary internet files
where they can be retrieved from and if the web user
disables javascript it will turn the right click back on.
Best method I know of would be to display an image file of
the document. They may be able to copy the image but they
would have to retype the whole thing if they wanted to use
the text

Mark, at best, because you really can't make it 'non-take-able' (how's that
for a word?), make it into a .pdf file (using one of the many, free, pdf
converter programs found on the net) and then upload it to your web in that
format. If nothing else, someone would have to take the time then, to
re-type the entire doc in order to make it theirs.

Thanks everyone, I looked at the options and went with
the java script. Thanks again.

Nomad-
Acrobat reader can have text or images copied from it just
as any other document.

Convert the documents to PDF and set the permission via Adobe Acrobat for
what a user can do with the PDF.
