267. Restore "Turn Off and Log Off" - Start Menu

Or you can use Group Policy, if XP Pro.

User Configuration\AdministrativeTemplates\Start Menu & Taskbar\
Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down command

Removes Shut Down from the Start menu and disables the Shut Down button in
the Windows Security dialog box.

Set to Disabled or Not configured.

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon/Logoff\
Remove Logoff on the Start Menu

Removes the Log Off item from the Start menu and prevents users from
restoring it.

Set to Disabled or Not configured.

Use System Restore .

Windows XP has a special function called System Restore which allows you to
restore your system to a state exactly as it was before.
Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
and restore to a state some days before the problem started
