I know that there is no way to turn off AutoFill in 2000,
when the feature was first introduced, but is there a way
now? There are some cases in which it is just counter-
productive. I.e. if you have a few fields and the third
field is a Short Date field, if you tab into this field it
will enter the next number and automatically Access will
prompt you saying that it is an incorrect type. Is there
a registry change or anything?

The only way I know to avoid this vexing and unnecessary misfeature is
to avoid using table datasheets. The phenomenon does not occur in
(frex) a Continuous Form.

The best way has always been just not to use table datasheets. Data entry
is what forms are for, and they don't have the autofill bug.
