Tuning Windows Mail Colors

I have a new computer with Vista Home Premium and would like to change the
colors of the Windows Mail side bar . The bright white color troubles my
eyes . TIA for your advice

What Windows Mail side bar?
 
There are no Windows Mail color settings. You will have to change the System
color settings.
Start - Control Panel - Personalization -
Window Color and Appearance
open classic appearance properties
Advanced
 
That area is called the Folders pane.
I don't know of any way to change its color.

but not the
area to the left of the page .
