I ran across this post by Kristan Kenny on the Windows Now site, and
thought if I linked it, it could be helpful to some people who are
waiting to upgrade their video cards or to buy a computer.

Tuning Windows Aero performance on low-end video cards

....which means the trade-off of 'transparent glass' for a gain in
performance.

I doubt that somebody waiting to upgrade his/her video card or to buy
a new computer is interested in acquiring hardware which is not
capable of Aero glass.

No where in my post Roy, was any scintilla of the word "acquire." Most
people who are waiting to get something already have what they want to
replace--they aren't acquiring it.

This is addressed to people with older hard ware who want to maximize
performance, and the only option that might influence Aero Glass is this
one:

Enable transparent glass (optional, performance change will depend on the
level of graphics card you have)

Whether or not it disables Aero Glass will depend on the card and its
memory. Some people get Aero glass effects with 64MB video cards.
