It seems the spanning feature is activated only for certain formats. On
the General tab, in the 'Formats' combo box you need to select a format
for which spanning is supported, for example, zip, cab, rar, etc.
Spanning is NOT supported for .7z format, which is the default when the
'Create a new archive' dialog is displayed.

I cannot help with your query, as when I'd tried TugZip, its problems
were far too serious. :(

TUGZIP version 2.0 (tugzip.exe date: 2003.08.20).

That was after the install and one momentary launch.

I had TUN restore my registry. Then, to determine whether it was an act
done only by the installer routine, and not by the program, I gave the
program itself a fresh launch.

Evidently it decided to "punish" me for my having not said yes to it
beingn given archives associations. The act of merely launching was
enough for it to inflict the punishment action, the auto-deletion of
all those archives association keys on my system.

Perhaps there is a new version, one that does not have that vindictive
behavior. But I'm not up to releasing that ape on my system again...

Tugzip made those programs that "merely" steal associations - which at
least aren't out demolishing them - almost look benign in compare. <g>

Thanks all of you.

Yes you are correct.
TugZip would appear to create some
other problems on my os.
I removed it.
Thanks

I've been giving TugZip a test run myself. Just curious, what types of
problems did you experience?

I installed version 3.0 to try it out and none of my file associations
were tampered with in any way.

HTH.

Even while I naturally believe you that the destructive behavior has
been rectified by version 3.0, I decided it best to avoid the headache
of dealing with that software again. (And have a good group of archiver
apps.) The event with version 2.0, it reflects a general problem.

There oft occurs far too much emphasis on trying to built up a "feature
list," while making not even a light nod towards the hippocratic oath:

"First do no harm."

I much prefer software without an extravagant feature list, when it's a
choice with it being well-tested, well-behaved, trusted.
