Although you can probably backdoor the site, going in through the main
page gives you the following message:

"Access to TuDogs is for members only. Membership is free but requires
double opt-in subscription to our newsletter."

YMMV, but as far as I'm concerned "fugem."

No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware, demoware,
nagware, shareware, spyware, time-limited software, trialware, viruses
or warez please.

Because Andy Mabbett is stalking me in this group, I have him killfiled.

I have, or at least had, a free subscription to the standard
newsletter -- I think you can get a more detailed one for a price.

When you access their program list (e.g. from a link provided in the
newsletter) you mostly (now always?) have to "log in", which is a bit
of a pain.

IIRC, there was some reason for that "double opt-in" when you
initially set things up. Something to do with privacy/spam/scam
issues (again, IIRC).

In fact, I haven't been all that impressed with most of the stuff
they've listed recently (usually 3 or 4 programs in each newsletter)
but the main database has some interesting stuff. Another gripe is
that it's often not all that clear whether their "free" category is
really as free as one would like -- often things seem to be only "free
to try".

Cheers, Phred.

Thanks for replying, Phred. I knew I was correct in saying "fugem."
