Ive got 2 TS w2k2000sp4+
Ive got these 2 TS's behind a E350 by Coyote Point
while the E350 NLB's fine for TS
TSADMIN.exe on either TS does NOT see the other TS

SO if I am on TS1 and launch TSadmin.exe... I do NOT see
TS2 in the Tsadmin....and vice versa

Any Ideas

thanks
bill

Can you verify (using a packet sniffer or packet tracer)
that the tsadmin discovery packets are being correctly
passed to and through the E350?

ummm that's a good idea....but id need two things
1.) A packet sniffer
2.) experience using it...

I do have Ethereal..it might do it..and I might be able to
figure it out

Coyote tell's me the E350 is not real friendly about
passing Netbios

Ethereal is perfect and will work. You might also be able
to get away with using the network monitor tool that comes
with Windows 2000, in fact, this might be easier.

"Not friendly" with NetBios...hmm. That doesn't make me
feel very good.

Yeh it looks like TSadmin passes Netbios to talk...
and since the E350 wont pass Netbios...
Ive got another Q:
these servers have two Nic's in them and or what about
assigning another IP address and gateway??

I need to have the E350 do my NLB for these two TS's
but Id like to manage via the TSadmin form my
machine...what if I..
either lite up the second nic..say give it a diff IP
192.168.1.1 (TS1) and .2 (TS2) gateway'd to say something
else then assign my management term 192.168.1.3
TSadmin might work right then?
OR just double assign the existing nic?

Seems plausible to me. If you could connect to your
systems using the different NIC that was not connected
through the E350, then you should be able to attach to it
correctly. You would have to run separate cables to the
second network card also.

Just remember that if you have two network cards, you
should leave the gateway entry blank for all but one of
the network cards. Having more than one gateway will
confuse the operating system and it won't know which
gateway to use to send out packets correctly.
