I am having a problem with my Win XP terminal server
clients that connect over the Internet timing out. These
clients connect over the Internet and the PCs disconnect
randomly. Sometimes the terminal server client reports
that the network is not available but most times the XP
client just disconnects with no message or warning.

I think this is caused by packet loss or delays wich are
within normal parameters for the Internet as we know it
today. I would like to change the default setting for
data transmission retries from 5ms to 10ms. Can someone
tell me where I can make this change.

Greg,

I don't have the answer to your question. However, I was experiencing a
similiar problem regarding disconnects. However, my disconnects were
happening in about 5-20 minutes after being connected. My issue was resolved
by replacing the firewall at my "home" office (that was hosting the TS).
This solved my disconnect issues immediately. In my case i tried numerous
TCP/IP registry adjustments...etc...to no avail.

The resolution to your issue may be different. But I thought I would pass
this along. Because....if you are using standard internet access
(DSL/Cable/T1) on both ends without trying to connect a ton of people
through it...you should have disconnect issues. Disconnect issues can happen
for numerous reasons. You either know this now....or are about to find it
out.

My .02....

I hope this helps

Ron
