I have a user who is unable to logon to any TS in my
Citrix farm. Other users can log in using the same ica
client.

2 events are logged

1
Windows cannot log you on because the profile cannot be
loaded. Contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - Access is denied.

2
RegLoadKey failed. Return value Access is denied. for
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows\\UsrClass.dat.

not much in knowledge base
aticle KB162031 does not seem to resolve the situation.
permission changed as advised in kb162031.

anyone had this experience or know how to resolve it?

Regards

Mark

Which OS are you running on the TS?
Which ServicePack?
What are the EventIDs and Source?
I am going to assume W2K with SP4, and EventID 1000, Source
Userenv.
Please repost with more details if this is not correct.

EventID 1000 with Source Userenv is a very common one. Have a look
here for a large number of causes and possible solutions:
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=1000&source=userenv

If this is only affecting one single user, I would start with
deleting the user profile. If more users are affected, I would
start with these pre-SP5 hotfixes (again assuming that you run
SP4):

828153 - UsrClasses Hive Does Not Unload During Logoff Because of
an Intermittent Handle Leak in Spoolsv.exe
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828153

827825 - "Windows Cannot Unload Your Registry Class File" Error
Message When You Log Off Terminal Services
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=827825

OS Win2k sp2
Citrix metaframe xp FR2
(found to be most stable set up for our environment)

EventID 1000 with Source Userenv for both events.

This is currently happening to one user. I have tried
without a roaming profile and it still reports the same
errors.

I assume that you have double-checked the users permission on the
target location for the local profile? If that isn't the problem,
then I think you'll have to apply a number of hotfixes: the pre-
SP5 fixes that I mentioned, as well as any profile-related
hotfixes that are included in SP3 and SP4. From the top of my
head, this one is included in SP4:

327612 - User Profile Unload Failure When You Start, Quit, or Log
Off NetMeeting
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=327612

i have applied "kb827825 - Windows Cannot Unload Your
Registry Class File" to 4 of the affected servers and this
seems to be working ok now.

Many thanks

Mark.
