TS CAL license missing

I have a Windows 2000 Server with 5 installed Terminal
Service CAL licenses, however only 4 non Windows XP/2000
Pro computers got permanent license. I have been
contacted Microsoft to reset the license 3 times, however
the 5th license still lost.
My question is where is the 5th license go? Does the
server itself take 1 TS CAL license away? If not, any
suggestion on what to do to get the 5th license back?

download the resource kit tools and run lsreport.exe => will give you a nice
text file to import in excel so you can see what is using what license

resouce kit. Do I need to purchase a resource kit for
Windows 2000 server?

Have you tried the lsreport.exe tool from this download page? The resource
kit tools are mostly very universal and i would bet you can use this one. If
not just search in google for lsreport.exe + windows 2000 and you will find
it.

But in any case it's never a bad idea to buy the resource kit from MS (cd
version) There are alot of extra tools that always come in hand and if you
have the official cd in you CD box than they are always at hand for when you
need them.
