Trying to use Windows XP Fax

Hi. When I try to receive a fax or send a fax from my computer it fails. It tells me that my phone line is either busy or disconnected. I have my phone line into the wall and then into the back of my tower in the wall plug. I used to receive faxes and send faxes from my compute. I am no sure what happened. Can anyone help me?

Try deleting and reinstalling the fax program in Add and Remove Windows
Programs. Jym

Hi Jym. Thank you for replying. I have done that. When I get a fax I pick it up manually and it reads answered call and I can hear my computer picking it up, but my phone keeps ringing. It eventually fails and says phone is either busy or disconnected. Do I have it hooked up right in the back of my computer. I have the phone line in the wall plug in the back of the computer and I have the other end into the wall jack. Hopefully you can help me

Wall plug - computer phone line - telephone. I take it that you have your
modem hooked up properly. You do know that you don't pick up the phone , you
recieve the fax from the fax program / file / receive a fax now. Jym

Hi Jym. Yes, I do not pick up the phone. I have DRP - Distinctive Ring Pattern that lets me know that I have a fax coming through not a call. When I go into my fax console and tell it to pick up, it reads answering call, but my phone keeps ringing and then it reads failed. Phone either busy or disconnected. I have the phone cord into the phone in the wall and in the back of the computer in the slot that says wall. There is one that says phone, but the same thing in that one. My answering maching get the fax.
