Hi
I have just installed windows XP onto a clean harddrive.
All's well and my broadband alcatel modem installed
correctly. I can access my e-mail. The problem is that
when I try to browse the internet my PC restarts. I have
tried different browsers (Netscape, Opera and from
Outlook) but each has the same result.

Help! My PC is an AMM 1000ghz based machine, with 40 gig
seagate drive, ATI Rage Pro Video, Alcatel Broadband Modem
on Freeserve.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul!
Start > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer > here you
look for application error logs.
[win key]+[break key] > system properties > Advanced > settings under
system startup and recovery > uncheck automatically restart under system
failure > apply > reboot
This will help you to diagnose the error.
Also update all the drivers and windows.

Does it just restart or is there a message?
If a box pops up titled 'System Shutdown' you may be
infected with MSBlast. You would have a time delay and that
processed can be stopped by using the shutdown -a command
Start >Run and type in "Shutdown -a" (no quotes)
