trying to upgrade from IE 5 to IE 6

trying to upgrade from IE 5 to IE 6 but when the
components start to load it keeps saying an error has
occured # 0X800C0005. it mentions proxie settings but no
proxies are being used.

any info would be great

Have you tried reinstalling IE6.

If you do a Google search on this error you will find postings such as:

I have been troubled by this error 0x800C0005 for about a week and found my
solution yesterday.

You should go to the Internet Explorer and Outlook Express support window on
the Microsoft site and download "ie6setup.exe" (or simply search for this
file
on the M/S site)which is the trailer for downloading IE 6.0 2800 and Outlook
Express of the same vintage.

This will manage the complete download of some 50 Mb in my case and install
the new software.

I was having multiple problems with both these programs and they have
disappeared - as if by magic!
