Help
I finally got on port 120 for a newsgroup..I can read all messages ..but
when I tried to send a message (a new "post") I got the following messages:
server response '440 posting not allowed"
port 120
secure:(ssl)
no server error 440
error number 0x800ccca9
What does all this mean?
Thanks

Should be port 119, NOT 120!

It means what it says...

The server you tried to post to does not accept posts...it is merely a
mirror of posts that are made to the server it mirrors.

Does the server use SPA (authentication method to confirm user
name/password) or does it simply require a user name and password only for
logon? If you have SPA checked, try unchecking it.

Also, check if the news server/news group is read-only or not. If posting
is allowed, they may have required info that needs to be configured in your
news client before the post will go through. Double check with whoever
provides access to the news server to be sure that you have your account
info setup correctly.
