Can anyone help me.
I'm trying to reinstall XP pro by using my CD. I've taken the "Upgrade"
option to try to repair my system. I now seem to be in an installation
loop -
The installation encounters a fault refering to catalogue files(could not
remove ieexcep.cat, sp1.cat, wmexpack.cat and mm20.cat )and instigates a
reboot and it start all over and the loop continues.
Is there any way to get uot of this or is it a complete format/fresh install
and I lose all my files.

Thanks for your help.

Alex.

Please remove nospam from email address.

Start the operating system from the CD-ROM (you may have to set your BIOS to
have the CD drive as the first boot device)

When the computer starts from the CD, the system checks your hardware

and then prompts you to select one of the following options:

To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER.

To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.

Press ENTER.

Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.

A box lists your current Windows XP installation, and then the system

prompts you to select one of the following options:

To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.

To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing, press
ESC.

Press R to start the automatic repair process. After repairing Windows XP,

you will need re-download all updates, starting with SP1.

I don't get any prompts when the computer starts, I just get setup resarting
and it goes into the same cycle as detailed below.

Can anyone help me?

Alex.
