Hello,

Excel 2000 for some reason has stopped associating files
with the regular excel icon. Although the files still
opened fine the users began to complain about this. In an
attempt to get excel files to look normal I tried to
uninstall and reinstall excel only. Now it won't
reinstall. It say "Error 1317 unable to create directory
C:Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup". If I log
on with one other user with admin privledges I
get "Invalid drive Z:\"

Z was the terminal server profile that I had mapped. I
tried removing this but I get the same error.

Any ideas.

As with any problem like this I'd ask if you have a valid backup that you can restore from, then you can recreate and test fixing the original problem on a test machine, instead of the production server

From what media did you originally install Office

I used the office 2000 cd. However, I did find that it was
a permission issue with the office folder. I'm not sure
what would have changed this, maybe the latest patches,
but I was able to reinstall.

Thanks
